On our third day/second morning, we are filled with excitement as it is New Year’s Eve in Paris.
Welcoming 2017 here just makes it that much more special. We prepare ourselves for an elegant evening cruise around the Seine, a memorable and sexy evening awaits us. It has quickly become apparent to us that every day is a good day to sleep in. We awake around noon to the big decision as to where to have lunch and get a charger for my new laptop. We took a little walk to the Louvre Apple Store (needed a phone adapter for my MacBook) and then a beautiful walk thru Palais Royal where I stumbled upon my favorite glove boutique, Maison Fabre. Not to be missed boutiques in the Palais Royal are Rick Owens.com and Gabrielle Geppert – and many more.
We welcomed the new year on a elegant cruise around the Seine.
My sister, Maureen, shared this quote from an artist exhibit at MFA, Boston. It resonates with how I am feeling about life right now:
“Youth was inspired by a picture of me riding a Big Wheel Tricycle in my backyard when I was younger. Through it I wanted to depict the freedom a child has. The repetition of the figure highlights physical movement. This piece demonstrates what I understand about Home. In a world that is constantly changing, Home is a constant. Though Home could be a person, place, or community, in the end it is where one receives stability and support. At Home I do not have to wear a mask of strength or professionalism or constant happiness, I can be the person that I am underneath that – the same person that I have been since I was a child riding my bicycle and the same person that I will be 20 years from now. A child has no fear of being judged and lacks the inhibition that adults have, concepts that Home exemplifies to me.”
This is how I welcome 2017… and so looking forward to my new home with David, his family and my boys! Bonne année!
