Planters are in and filled with the most gorgeous soil just in time for the next two days of rain. A weekend of rain is predicted and trays of seeds are planted indoors.
Starting with:
Arugula – which I will continue to grow all summer… love to harvest when it’s in its young stage of growth.
Valerian – a perennial flowering plant. The flower extracts were used as a perfume in the 16th century. It’s best to harvest valerian root near the end of the season. The best way to prepare valerian root tea is to steep it for 10 minutes with warm water at about 85 degrees°. Valerian is known to have a calming effect and commonly used for sleep disorders.
Shiso – hard to find Japanese herb that I am so excited to have in my garden. The Japanese use this as we would use basil, typically as a garnish as it is pretty strong.
Katz Apricot Stocks – Exquisite tall and thin light peach flower.
