I do change up my shampoo and conditioner every once in awhile.  My go-to tends to be Kerastase for years for a few reasons.  First, the selection is very specific to your hair type and second I can buy it in large commercial bottles at my local pharmacy.  You can of course get it online as well.  Every few months I treat myself to a deep conditioning with Christophe Robin masque régénérant (regenerating mask). I very rarely use a blow drier or other heat products on my hair so it tends to stay healthy and easy to manage.
My favorite product to put on wet hair and let dry naturally is Bumble and bumble tonic lotion primer.  This is also great if you are going to blow dry your hair.  After towel drying, I spray all over, brush in and just crunch until hair is slightly dry.   In between days I do not shampoo, I spray a little D’avinés Ol OIL for a little lift and shine.
