ALMOND MILK
Making any type of nut milk is so easy with results that are so pure and delicious.
Also, it satisfies me when I crave a snack in the afternoon. I enjoy a 1/2 cup of almond milk vs. a handful of nuts which definitely has more calories than my special homemade milk.
Here is my weekly go to almond milk recipe:
1 cup blanched almonds
2 dates ( pitted )
4 cups of water
2 tsp’s turmeric
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla (optional)
I blanched the almonds in boiling water for a minute and then strained them.
This is a two part process in a NutraBullet however, you can possibly do it all at one time in a Vita-mix. Now that I have downsized to a city apartment so have my appliances.
So, if using a nutra bullet…
1/2 cup almonds
1 date
2 cups of water
1 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
blend well and reserve in a large glass jar
Repeat the balance of ingredients and add to jar.
This will keep up to one week in your fridge.
If you like your almond milk thicker which I do, reduce the amount of water to 3 cups.
Also, you can strain it through a sieve/cheese cloth for a smoother texture. I don’t as I love it just the way it comes out.
