YOU ARE NOT ALONE
So much has impacted and changed our lives since my last blog. I have been to Paris and back. Got unbelievably sick upon my return which ended up not being the coronavirus but a horrible flu. I still question today if my test was accurate as I had all the symptoms the virus brings on. Today, I am so relieved to have wonderful energy and a genuine appreciation for my health. As we are all facing an unexpected down time in life, the feeling of not having our freedom, not knowing the right thing to do or where to go is extremely stressful. This for sure brings on anxiety, a sense of fear and emotions we are truly not prepared for.
I wanted to share with you the various ways I am coping and how I try to find a balance everyday. Honestly, it is not easy and I do have times of sadness and loneliness. For what it is worth…this is my way of finding a balance during this tough time we are dealing with…
Health
It is so important to be healthy, eat healthy and avoid cravings. First, rotate your diet. This means do not eat the same thing everyday. Our bodies are a machine and need to be challenged regularly. For me, this means different fruits in the morning, changing out the grains and fiber I mix with my daily protein.
Supplements
I have always been a believer in getting my daily dose of vitamins as naturally as possible. I have boosted my normal everyday routine to keep my immune system extra strong. Here is my daily routine during this serious time when we need to be strong and vital.
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar mixed with a little warm water and slice of lemon.
- 1 tablespoon Udo’s Oil – Omega Fatty Acid. I mix this with a small glass of warm water. I find my skin and nails so healthy when I do this on a regular basis.
- Black Elderberry – 2 capsules every morning
- Oregano extract – dab a drop behind ears and wrist before going outside. This is an amazing virus repellent.
- Mushroom Immune Complex – 1 capsule in the morning
- Turmeric – I grate some in water a few times a day with ginger
- Vitamin D – I like to do the natural liquid – 1 drop on my tongue in the morning. “Pure encapsulations Vitamin D3”
- CuraMed – Healthy Inflammation Response – 1 capsule daily
- Neosporin – a little on each nostril before heading out to any public area.
Fitness
Ok, I am definitely addicted to cardio and working out. After being so sick for 2 weeks, I decided my daily workout would be more mental and less stressful on my body. Ok, I do walk up and down 13 flights of stairs a few times day to avoid getting in a small elevator, which gets my heart rate equal to any spin class. With that being said, I am not trying to burn 500-1000 plus calories a day like I used too. I am happy with just meditating, yoga, stretching and pilates. Long walks and not vigorous runs are becoming the new me. I love my pull up bar to hang, stretch, do some core work and my kettle-bell for squats and lunges. Right now, it is all about finding a balance and being content.
Friends and Family
I am committed to hearing a voice, face timing and not just texting. Being connected and feeling the connection to loved ones is so important. I have added to my list every morning a few elderly women I have met in my neighborhood. Everyday a little check-in makes such a difference in their life and mine for sure.
Hobbies and creativity
I am a big lover of puzzles as they are a way for me to just chill, not really think , relax my mind and body. Also, journaling is huge in my life. It is not something I do everyday and that is OK. When I feel the craving to write and express myself it is so rewarding. Another hobby I am going to indulge in is knitting. My sweet mother was an amazing knitter and about 25 years ago I found such joy in it. I now have the yarn, needles and ready for the challenge.
Home projects
Spring cleaning, digging into the closet and doing a seasonal clean out is so fulfilling. My rule of thumb when I do this maybe twice a year is that if I have not worn something in 2 years it is time to say goodbye. However, if there is sentimental value you hold onto it.
I am so looking forward to sharing with you on my next blog music, reading and inspirational podcasts.
HUGS, LOVE AND PLEASE STAY HEALTHY!
Au revoir,
Bises,
Una
