SAUTÉED CHARD WITH RICE
So loving Spring and the Farmer’s Market. Upon arriving home from my my early morning venture to the market, I realize how hungry I am and want to prepare an amazing dish. This morning I sautéed chard and added in my precooked Massa Organic rice, pre-roasted garlic cloves and cippolini onions. Season with salt & pepper. Maybe a dash of special olive oil and some fresh chopped herbs like basil. Having the rice, garlic and onions already and at your finger tips in the fridge is so convenient. This is why I really plan ahead and prepare some basic ingredients to have on hand during the week.
Bon Appétit
Chard – wash and slice into slivers. Sauté on medium heat for approx. 5 minutes.
Roasted Garlic – keeps in fridge 2 weeks. I either roast a whole head or cloves in olive oil and rosemary at 350 for approx. 30 minutes. Store in fridge in the foil.
Roasted Onion – peel and half 6-8 onions, toss in olive oil and roast at 350 for approx. 30 minutes. Store in an airtight container for a week.
Prepared Rice – see previous recipe for Aromatic Steamed Rice on the blog.
