TARTE CLASSIQUE
This recipe is such an amazing foundation to any type of tart. It can be a basis to anything you desire to serve as a crispy appetizer. I play with this recipe all the time, especially if I do not have fresh bread that day. I did post back in January this crust as an Onion tart. This version, however, is vegan 🙂
2 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cups olive oil
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1/4 cup mixed herbs chopped finely…sage, oregano, thyme, etc
1 Tblspn finely chopped garlic
1/4 cup pitted olives
Salt & Pepper
Mix flour, olive oil, salt and warm water in a bowl quickly.
Form in a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for 40-60 minutes.
Heat oven 400 degrees
Remove dough and gently spread in a circle 1/4” thick, 8” circle on a baking sheet or cast iron pan, crimping the edges. I like to pinch the edges every inch or so.
Brush with a little olive oil, sprinkle on the herbs, garlic and olives
Finish with a little salt and pepper.
Bake in oven for approximately 30 minutes.
This taste great served immediately or room temp. A wonderful condiment to any meal.
