Katagiri Grand Central is my incredible new find thanks the NYT food section review a few weeks ago. This is amazing for a quick fix lunch spot, take out, and a small counter space for eating-in.
As you will see in the NYT review, Omusubi Gonbei, a chain founded in Japan in 1999 opened in America in 2013 at Mitsuwa Marketplace, a Japanese store in Edgewater, NY. The second location opened last spring at Katagiri grocery store right around the corner from my apartment by Grand Central Terminal. Omusubi Gonbei claim to fame is their amazing rice balls neatly triangular, wrapped with a band of nori equivalent to a burrito!
Seriously, I am so in love with this new find! They have fresh ramen, miso, herbs, and just about everything you would need to create your own Japanese meal at home…and a reasonable, healthy lunch on the run.

Looks amazing! I would be at Katagirl for breakfast if they were open.
