PROTEIN is the biggest challenge for me. Starting off the new year I am committing to finding ways to include Protein in most of my meals if not all.
This is a challenge since meat has not been in my diet for over 35 years. Here are a few new ways I am committing to, especially breakfast which is so important.
1. Organic hard boiled eggs in my fridge always. I am limiting my diet to 1 egg 3-4 days a week. If I am in a rush I just peel an egg, add salt and pepper. Very satisfying!
2. Protein shake – Uhg been a challenge to find a great powder and I think I did! “Organic Plant Protein” by Garden of Life. Gluten Free and no soy, wheat or dairy. I just mix a scoop with 8 ounces of water – sometimes I do this before my morning walk with Oskar and the workout of the day….spin, Pilates, yoga, core class. This is going to be the biggest boost of protein I am adding to my diet. Looking forward to seeing more muscle.
3. Almond butter – some mornings after a café and before venturing out for a workout I down 1 tablespoon of Almond Butter.
4. I have also added holistic Vitamin D drops to my diet. I do not take any supplements, however, it has been recommended highly since moving back to NYC and leaving the daily California warm sun exposure.
